Crimson River

Fading Memories

Energized as I walk the

labyrinth of our past

Revisiting yesterday

Losing myself in what was

Falling in love again

Flirting with affection

Dancing in infatuation

Repenting in my sins

Recollecting my shame

Stopping to feel the pain

Of heartache

The agony of defeat

The disappointment of failure

The hurt of betrayal

Baffled by how it ended

How two people so in love

Could inflict so many wounds

on each other.

To the point where the blood was

Flowing like a crimson river.

Draining the veins of life.

Scrambling to heal the wounded.

Desperately searching for a way

to hold onto the dreams of  yesterday.

Dreams like kite strings swiftly

flying away.

Forever lost.

Carried away by the ever shifting wind.

One thing remains constant,

I loved  you.
