My Dear Old Heart

My dear old heart was cast out to sea

in the midst of a violent storm

Neither Northern Star nor compass

Could lead the way

Violent waves carried my dear old heart

away from the comfort of familiar shores

and into the arms of the mysterious unknown sea.

And like a lover I embraced it.

Neither mermaid nor nymph could distract me.

My dear old heart was cast out to sea

Under tow spinning my heart into drunken daze.

Clashing into razor sharp rocks.

My dear old heart was cast out to sea

in hopes of one day to be cast out on calmer seas.
